UNISON
A study of the interplay of pigment and surface. An ongoing process of delicate papers, with no more than piercings, pigments, water and folds.
Paint (pigment) soaks into the paper fibres and they become one, an integral of the whole; pigments and paper in unison. Disturbed fibres of the paper are accentuated as the pigments settle into the recesses and broken surface of the paper.
Thirsty paper fibres absorb pigmented water and expand and as a consequence the paper contorts. This result is an integral part of the finished artwork. Creating overlaps and folds, the paper is somewhat flattened once dry.
